Reno Omokri asserts that Gambarya’s allegations against National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu are an attempt to divert attention from claims about USAID’s alleged funding links to Boko Haram.

Reno Omokri, a former presidential aide, has asserted that Binance executive Tigran Gambarya’s allegations against National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu are intended to redirect attention away from recent disclosures about USAID’s purported financial connections to Boko Haram in Nigeria.

In a post on his X account on Friday, Omokri asserted that the timing of Gambarya’s claims seemed suspicious.

He stated, “This is a typical distraction strategy, and Nigeria should not be swayed by it.”

His full statement reads: “The claims made by Tigran Gambarya against Binance are actually a diversion tactic meant to shift Nigerians’ attention away from the revelations about USAID funding Boko Haram.”

Tigran Gambarya’s false claims against Malam Nuhu Ribadu and the Office of the National Security Adviser are intentionally crafted to divert attention from the terror funding scandal involving USAID.

Observant Nigerians may have noticed that Mr. Gambarya made his audacious claims exactly an hour after Republican U.S. Congressman Scott Perry disclosed that some high-ranking U.S. officials were financing Boko Haram. Just one hour following the congressman’s revelations, Mr. Tigran Gambarya abruptly published his misleading allegations on X.

This individual has been freely moving around the United States for several weeks. Why is this relevant now? Nigerians should be aware that Mr. Tigran Gambarya is associated with certain agencies involved in economic sabotage against Nigeria, including facilitating the siphoning of $25 billion out of the country each year.

Nigerians might remember that following the government’s delisting of Binance, which led to its cessation of operations in Nigeria, the Naira experienced a significant surge, appreciating by 36.4% in just one day. This prompted President Tinubu to release a video statement celebrating what he called the ‘seismic shift’ in our currency value – from ₦1,598 per $1 on Thursday, March 21, 2024, to ₦1,382 per $1 on Friday, March 22.

It is not unexpected that Mr. Tigran Gambarya, a former agent, would now make his misleading claims following the revelation of certain interests channeling funds to terrorism in Nigeria via the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). According to Congressman Perry, USAID was making multimillion-dollar yearly payments to Boko Haram during a period when the Obama and Biden administrations were refusing weapon sales to Nigeria.

This is a common distraction tactic, and Nigeria shouldn’t be deceived by it. Those in power are desperate and grasping at straws.

Malam Nuhu Ribadu is a leader known for his unwavering integrity. As the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in 2006, he notably turned down a $15 million cash bribe and instead deposited it with the Central Bank of Nigeria. On the other hand, Tigran Gambarya has been accused of being a corrupt economic saboteur who acted against Nigeria’s interests on behalf of individuals that Congressman Perry recently revealed as financiers of terrorism.

“Whom should you trust? The answer is clear. This is a straightforward example of corruption pushing back!”

PlatinumPost reports that Gambarya, in an extensive post on X, claimed that Ribadu requested a bribe from him to support his political goals.

The Binance executive, who spent several months detained in Abuja, claimed: “Ribadu insisted that he needed billions to finance his future political aspirations. But when the corruption scandal emerged, he found himself cornered—since any settlement would now be seen as a bribe. It seems like he had his sights set on his superior’s position.”

Ribadu went as far as hiring a U.S. law firm to negotiate my release, but their lack of competence and greed led to its failure.

Ribadu exceeded his authority and caused embarrassment for Nigeria in front of U.S. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan. His inappropriate behavior upset the White House, leading to diplomatic consequences: the U.S. restricted visas for the Nigerian delegation attending UNGA, and President Biden declined a meeting with Tinubu until my situation was addressed.

Ultimately, Ribadu misjudged his level of influence. He believed they could achieve a swift victory; however, the result was an international incident that highlighted his incompetence worldwide.

“I’m signing off for the moment. Although I don’t want to linger on this topic, it’s crucial that Nigerians have accurate information. I’ve met incredible people in Nigeria, and it’s unfortunate that those currently in power are not serving them well.”
