At the meeting was Peter Mbah, the current governor of Enugu State.

Speaking to the media, Makinde stated that the G5 had visited the President to inform him of the most recent events and to express the group’s support for justice, fairness, and equity in the nation.

He admitted that nation-building, which he described as a challenging endeavor, requires ongoing assessment. He stated that the President and the G5 would continue to meet to discuss the country’s future.
On Thursday, President Bola Tinubu met with the G5 or the Integrity Group, a collection of PDP politicians who were upset over something.

Four previous governors from the party and one currently serving governor attended the conference at Aso Rock. They are former governors Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), Nyesom Wike (Rivers), Samuel Ortom (Benue), Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), and Governor Seyi Makinde (Oyo).

There was also Peter Mbah, the current governor of Enugu State.

The G5 Long Battle With Ayu and Atiku
After the party’s presidential primary in May 2022, the G5, who were all two-term governors before four of them stepped down on May 29, 2023, came together to demand that the then-PDP National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, step down for a southern replacement as a condition of supporting the party’s flag-bearer Atiku Abubakar in the February 25 election. In the recently held elections, Atiku and Ayu both called the bluff of the then-governors and refused to give in to their demands.

Interestingly, Ortom, Ikpeazu, and Ugwuanyi attempted to join the Senate, which has been referred to as a “retirement home” for former governors, but they were defeated in their effort during the presidential and National Assembly elections on February 25. Among the G5 members, Makinde was the only winner.

Before the elections, Tinubu met with Wike and Makinde several times.

Atiku did not win any of the G5 states in the presidential election, although Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) did well in Oyo, Benue, and Rivers, while Peter Obi of the Labour Party won Enugu and Abia.

The 70-year-old Tinubu won the most votes (8,794,726), about two million more than his nearest challenger, Atiku, and finished first in 12 of Nigeria’s 36 states. He also won considerable numbers in a number of other states.

Atiku, 76, who has already stood for president six times, received 6,984,520 votes, while Obi, who in less than a year inspired youthful voters in a way that some have called unprecedented, came in second with 6,101,533, received 6,984,520 votes.
