Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the interior minister, has demanded that an intelligence report on wrongdoing by certain men in the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) be looked into right now.

This was said in a statement made on Thursday in Abuja by his Special Advisor on Media and Publicity, Mr. Alao Babatunde.

In response to remarks made by Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Gen. Christopher Musa during his Tuesday appearance before members of the House of Representatives, the minister authorised the investigation.
The CDS claims that certain correctional service employees conspired with prisoners to fund the activities of banned terrorist organisations.

In response, Tunji-Ojo denounced the act of disloyalty and instructed NCoS Controller-General Haliru Nababa to look into the alarming claim.

The minister demanded that the situation be looked into as quickly as possible in order to discover the facts.

He further stated that any officer found guilty or involved in undermining the security of the nation and the armed forces would be subject to the full force of the law.

Additionally, Tunji-Ojo gave the public the assurance that reforms were in place to bring the service up to par with worldwide standards so that prisoners may receive real rehabilitation.

He continued by saying that this would be consistent with President Bola Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda.”

“The days of just talking things out are passed. The administration has reaffirmed its hope that no officer will be allowed to violate it.

He continued, “We have the state’s interest to protect, and it is above anyone’s interest.”
