A former Rivers State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Prof Zacchaeus Adangor, has expressed his belief that Governor Siminalayi Fubara is not dedicated to reconciling with his predecessor, Nyesom Wike.
Adangor, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, stated that he left Fubara’s administration in April due to disagreements over legal actions against the Presidential Peace Pact.
Adangor highlighted that his issues with the governor began after the Peace Pact in Abuja, leading to his redeployment and subsequent resignation. He emphasized his loyalty to Wike and denied any disloyalty during his tenure under Fubara.
Adangor provided two examples to illustrate that Fubara is not the peacemaker people perceive him to be. Firstly, Adangor mentioned that he had taken a leave of absence from Rivers State University, his primary assignment.
However, upon resigning on April 24, 2024, Fubara anticipated his return to the university but instructed the management not to allow him back. Adangor argued that this decision contradicts the behavior of someone who genuinely seeks peace.
Secondly, Adangor claimed that the governor refused to sign the warrant of establishment for a customary court in Adangor’s local community, seemingly as a means to “punish” him.
