Siminalayi Fubara, the Governor of Rivers State, has provided clarification regarding his recent visit to the residential quarters of the State House of Assembly.
He explained that the purpose of his visit was to assess the condition of the structures with the intention of potentially rehabilitating them in order to restore their livability.
The governor’s clarification came after he inspected the Emohua/Abalama/Tema Junction dual carriageway road project, which spans 15.24 kilometers.
Videos circulating on social media showed the governor touring the Assembly residential quarters, leading to inquiries about the purpose of his visit.

In response, Governor Fubara emphasized that the Assembly quarters are part of his property and there is nothing wrong with him checking on their condition.
He also mentioned that there have been recent developments, including the appointment of a new Speaker, which prompted his visit to assess the situation firsthand.
Additionally, the governor commented on the progress of the road project, stating that he was evaluating its status to determine any further steps needed for its commissioning on his one-year anniversary.
He highlighted that the remaining work primarily involves the installation of lighting and expressed confidence that the road will be commissioned successfully.
Governor Fubara acknowledged that the road project was inherited from the previous administration but emphasized that his administration has taken responsibility for most of the costs.
He justified adding it as one of their projects and commissioning it for the benefit of the people.
He emphasized that governance should always prioritize the people and that when they are not at the center of decision-making, it ceases to be true governance.
The governor highlighted the importance of putting the road in order, as it was previously in a bad state and associated with criminal activities such as kidnapping.
