Governor Fubara has opened up about the primary cause of his fallout with ex-governor Wike, as the political crisis in Rivers State escalates.

Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State has provided some details about his conflict with Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.

Fubara mentioned that his disagreement with Wike stems from a struggle for power and control in Rivers State.

Since Fubara took office as governor in 2023, he and Wike have been at odds.

The ongoing cold war between the pair persisted despite intervention efforts by President Bola Tinubu and other key stakeholders.

During his appearance on Channels TV’s Politics Today to discuss the crisis, Fubara stated that he had upheld all “understandings” despite the ongoing conflict.

Fubara stated, “We’re all aware of the problem; it’s straightforward. It centers around power and control. You’ve witnessed it in this case—if elections had taken place as usual in Rivers, and council chairmen were properly inaugurated there would be no need for anyone to block them from entering the Secretariat.”

“I believe I have kept every agreement we had. As mentioned, I’d prefer not to discuss those matters.”

The governor also expressed concerns regarding Tinubu’s involvement in the crisis, as only his name was mentioned.

He stated, “I don’t have an issue with the President’s intervention. However, I am a bit concerned that only my name was mentioned. But as I’ve said, since it’s coming from the President, I have no further comments on it.”

This issue is straightforward, as easy as ABC. Everyone in Nigeria and Rivers understands its origin. It’s not complicated like rocket science; the problem isn’t Fubara.
