Fubara calls for an urgent EXCO meeting following the defection of 27 lawmakers to APC
The State Executive Council members have been called to an emergency meeting by Rivers State Governor Sim Fubara.
The state capital of Port Harcourt, the Government House, is the location of the meeting.
After 27 members of the 32-member House of Assembly defected from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC), Fubara convened the meeting.
At a House session, the legislators abandoned the PDP in favour of the APC.
Following the meeting, a collective photo of the MPs was taken with their APC flags waving.
There has been conflict between Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), regarding the organisation of the party in the state.
