FRSC Corps Marshal to Special Marshals: Exercise professionalism in eliminating traffic accidents
Dauda Biu, the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps, or FRSC, has given special marshals across the nation instructions to uphold the strictest standards of discipline and professionalism in their efforts to end traffic accidents in accordance with best practises around the world.
The advice was given by Biu, represented by Shoba Akande, Corps Commander, on the sidelines of a sectoral special marshals workshop that took place on Wednesday in Osogbo.
“Volunteerism in Road Safety Management: Limits and Possibilities” was the title of the workshop.
He claimed that through working with stakeholders, the workshop would aid in achieving the corporate strategy goals of FRSC 2023.
The achievement of a 5% decrease in traffic accidents and injuries will be made possible by these targets, which will also help to strengthen collaborations in road safety for creative initiatives.
It will also strengthen the capacity for data gathering, analysis, and safety policy formulation, according to Biu.
It is essential, in his words, “to constantly review activities and also analyse the impact of the activities on reduction of road traffic accidents in Nigeria.”
Therefore, according to Biu, the workshop will extend everyone’s perspective and produce the results Nigerian road users were hoping for.
In a previous order, Meshach Jatau, the Zonal Commanding Officer in charge of Osun, Oyo, and Ondo, instructed special marshals to brace up and get ready to work alongside regular marshals to minimise accidents.
Jatau applauded the corps marshal for his tenacious efforts to guarantee road safety around the nation.
He expressed hope that the course will equip attendees with the necessary knowledge for managing safety.
The Zonal Commanding Officer stated that safety is a shared duty among all parties and should not be put just in the control of the regular marshals.
John Ugbebor, the national coordinator for special marshals, thanked the corps for providing the essential assistance to make the event successful in his welcome speech.
Tunji Ajiboye, speaking on behalf of Ugbebor, stated that the marshals will not waver in upholding professionalism in the execution of their volunteer duties.
The session, according to him, is evidence of the organization’s dedication to professionalism.
He claims that the knowledge and abilities learned at the course will have a big impact on how special marshals go about their everyday business.
The Osun Sector Commander, Henry Benamaisia, additionally pledged to make sure that the state’s 700+ special marshals work to fulfil their assigned mandate.
In order to make highways accident-free, Benamaisia requested the assistance of all parties involved in transportation and other sister security authorities.
