Supporters of Bendel Insurance have been given complimentary transportation by the Edo State Government to their matchday 17 matchup with Rangers.
This was revealed in a statement released on Thursday by the state’s commissioner of communication and orientation, Chris Osa Nehikhare.

Nehikhare stated that the gesture is meant to facilitate the spectators’ and supporters’ comfortable journey to the game site.
He called on all of the state’s sports fans to turn out in force and cheer the team on to victory.
Rangers will play Bendel Insurance on Saturday at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.
In order to mobilise Edo residents in large numbers to support the State’s football team, Insurance, during their NPFL match against Rangers on Saturday, January 06, 2024, at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City, the statement reads: “Our sports-loving governor, His Excellency, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has approved the provision of free bus ride through the Edo City Transport Services (ECTS).
“To enable simple and convenient transportation for Bendel Insurance supporters and fans, as well as other football enthusiasts, to and from the game site, complimentary buses will be offered at many pickup locations.
“Ugbowo axis, Airport Road, Sokponba Road, Ikpoba-Hill, Eyean-Aduwawa axis, King Square axis, Ogida Siluko Road, New Benin, Sapele Road, and Ekenwan Road are all part of the free bus service route.
“Edo residents are encouraged to turn out in large numbers to support our beloved team, Bendel Insurance, to victory, even if we are confident of victory after 90 minutes of thrilling football action. We want the stadium to be full so that we can provide them with the intimidating and moral support that they need.
