Free rail services for Nigerian citizens will be extended by the government

The free rail services for commuters have been extended by the Federal Government, according to the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC).

Instead of ending on January 4, 2024, as previously announced, the free rail service will now continue until January 7, 2024.

This means that for the next three days, Nigerians can enjoy free train rides nationwide by booking their tickets through the NRC’s e-ticketing platform.

The NRC’s official website conveyed this information, along with a message wishing passengers a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. It is worth noting that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had earlier announced a 50% transport fare discount for interstate travel and free commuter rides on all rail lines from December 2023 to January 4, 2024.
