The departing governor responded to claims that he was concerned about being detained by EFCC agents after losing his immunity on Monday.
Bello Matawalle, the governor of Zamfara State, has denied claims that he left the nation before the end of his term in office, claiming that he has no motive to do so.
In response to claims that he was concerned about being detained by EFCC agents after losing his immunity on Monday, Matawalle made the rejoinder during a Saturday interview with media in Abuja.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for governor Matawalle, who lost his quest for reelection in the gubernatorial election on March 18, will be replaced by Dauda Lawal on Monday.
The departing governor urged anybody with information on the claim of misused funds against him to go to court rather than participate in a media trial, noting that he had left the country for a medical examination.
“If somebody has a grievance against me, let’s see it if he brings it. what reason? They ought to take it. Additionally, you cannot just accuse someone in the media. Bring your documentation, go in court, and let the judge declare that “This person was found guilty of such-and-such problem,” he said.
But as of right now, no one, as a human, can state “you are ever convicted” or “you are found guilty on any of the crimes,” only courts with competent authority. Additionally, I can guarantee that Asiwaju [Bola Tinubu] would uphold the law as a moral being. He is going to follow the law.
According to Matawalle, he is happy to be a Nigerian and of his nation.
“What’s wrong with returning to my own country? Everyone has a different perspective, it’s simply humans, he said.
In this age of social media in particular, “many individuals may say so many things, someone will simply get up and write falsehoods or make meaningless remarks about someone. It’s someone’s viewpoint, as I already said.
