Alabi Sikirat Titilope, a local businesswoman of the Ifelodun Local Government of Kwara State, was attacked and killed by unidentified gunmen at Agbeku Community, Agunji District.
Her motorbike was taken away by the gunmen as well, according to reliable sources.
According to reports, the businesswoman was assassinated at midnight on Sunday in her house in Agbeku, not long after she had arrived from the state capital of Ilorin on a business trip.
In a phone conversation with DAILY POST on Monday, the town’s traditional leader, Oba Abdulazeez Shola Agboola, confirmed the occurrence and revealed that four individuals were currently being sought by police in connection with the terrible situation.
He expressed regret over the fact that this was the first incidence of its like to be noted in the local history.
According to Oba Abdulazeez, “all community members have resolved to track down the perpetrators of the heinous act and bring them to justice in collaboration with the police.”
The king asserted that the occurrence had caused the neighbourhood to become terrified and promised to stop at nothing to ensure the protection of the populace.
The woman, who had her motorbike taken away as well, was reportedly brutally murdered by men brandishing guns.
At the time of publication, the entire Agbeku village had been rocked by the incident and was in a state of sadness and dread, and security personnel were alert for potential suspects’ arrests.
SP Okasanmi Ajayi, the state police command’s spokesperson, acknowledged the situation in a statement on Monday.
“On March 9, 2023, at or around 8:00 am, one Alabi Sakirat (f) of Ile Idi-Ajagun, Agbeku via Igbaja town, reported at Igbaja police station on the same date that she went to her mother’s house and met her in her pool of blood, already beheaded by unknown or known persons,” he said.
“Some suspects have already been taken into custody and are assisting the command in its investigation,” he continued.
