For allegedly participating in electoral fraud during Rivers State’s presidential and national assembly elections last Saturday, the Rivers state police command has detained one of its personnel.

The arrest came when a social media trending video went viral showing the policemen’ suspected involvement in election fraud in a pick-up truck bearing the licence plate “RRT 050.”

One officer and three inspectors were detained for questioning over the matter, according to a statement from command.

According to the command’s spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, the police pick-up van in the popular video was also seized for a full inquiry.

“The Command hereby assures the electorate in Rivers State of its unwavering dedication to promoting the rule of law and making sure that any offenders found guilty are subjected to appropriate sanctions.

The Command requests that all locals maintain their composure while awaiting the official declaration of the election’s outcome, according to the statement.
