Four Dead in Sokoto Boat Accident

Four individuals have died in a boat accident in Sokoto, with rescue and recovery operations underway.

Four individuals lost their lives as a result of a tragic boat mishap that took place in Dundaye community, located within the Wamakko Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

On Tuesday, Alhaji Aliyu Kafindangi, who is in charge of the Sokoto Field Operation Office for the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), affirmed the occurrence.

On Sunday evening, an accident occurred and on Monday a rescue effort led by NEMA, the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Fire Services, State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), and nearby divers were able to retrieve the deceased bodies.

Kafindangi reported that during the accident, there were 24 individuals on board. Thankfully, 19 people were saved while one body was found on Sunday and an additional three bodies were discovered the following day. Regrettably, a sole person is still unaccounted for as search and rescue operations persistently continue.

Kafindangi conveyed his appreciation to both the state and local administrations, along with members of the community for their unwavering assistance during the rescue missions.
