Tragedy struck at IMSU Junction in Owerri, Imo State capital, when a fatal motor accident involving a Mack Truck and four minibusses claimed the lives of six individuals and left several others with serious injuries.
The police spokesperson in Imo, Henry Okoye, confirmed the incident and stated that preliminary investigations revealed that the driver of the Mack Truck lost control of his vehicle while heading towards IMSU Junction from Orji along Okigwe road.
In a horrifying turn of events, the truck veered off course and collided with four shuttle minibusses and pedestrians along the road, causing extensive damage and devastation.
Upon receiving information about the accident, the Commissioner of Police Imo State Command, CP Aboki Danjuma, swiftly mobilized the Orji Divisional Headquarters and the State Traffic department to the scene.

The police operatives, along with the help of compassionate individuals, worked together to evacuate the victims to the Federal Medical Center (FMC) in Owerri for immediate medical attention.
Tragically, six individuals were pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital, while efforts were made to save the lives of the injured victims.
The accident scene was meticulously documented through photographs and sketches, and the vehicles involved were promptly cleared from the road to ensure the smooth flow of traffic.
The bodies of the deceased victims were respectfully taken to the FMC mortuary for preservation.
The authorities are currently making every effort to contact the families of the deceased and injured victims, as well as apprehend the driver of the truck who fled the scene after the accident.
In the wake of this devastating incident, the Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families, friends, and relatives of the deceased.
He offered prayers for the repose of their souls and wished a speedy recovery to those who were injured.
The police will continue their investigation into the accident, ensuring that justice is served and measures are taken to prevent such tragedies in the future.
