The group of former State House of Assembly candidates from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has urged the acting National Chairman of the party, Ambassador Ilia Damagum, to step down.
The group, known as the Peoples Democratic Party State House of Assembly Candidates Forum (PDP-SHACF), emphasized the importance of appointing a substantive Chairman from the North Central region in accordance with the party’s constitution.
The National Chairman of the forum, Hon. Salaudeen Lukman, stressed the need for strict adherence to the party’s constitution to prevent prolonged crises that could harm the party’s future.
The forum, which includes candidates from the 2023 general election, expressed dissatisfaction with the handling of internal conflicts by the PDP-NWC and called for decisive actions to revitalize the party.
The forum accused certain individuals of engaging in activities against the party’s interests in various states, including Rivers, Lagos, Ekiti, Enugu, Oyo, Benue, Kebbi, and other locations. It highlighted that some members and followers of the PDP are openly endorsing rival political parties.
