Anyim Pius Anyim’s loyalists, who were previously affiliated with the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ivo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, recently switched their allegiance to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Notable defectors include former House of Representatives member Hon. Livunus Makwe, former House of Assembly member Hon. Oliver Osi, and Aja Nwabueze, who was the deputy governorship candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 general elections in the state.
The defectors also consist of leaders and members from other political parties such as the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), National Rescue Movement (NRM), and various opposition parties within the local government.
The reception of the defectors was overseen by the APC state chairman, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, and Ivo LGA chairman, Chief Emmanuel Ajah, who emphasized the unity and inclusivity of the party.
The defectors cited Governor Nwifuru’s leadership style as a key reason for joining the APC, expressing their commitment to strengthening and contributing value to the party.
Overall, the defectors highlighted their dissatisfaction with the PDP’s handling of the 2023 general election and praised the efforts of the local government chairman in promoting peace within Ivo LGA.
