Fatima Binta Bello, a former assistant minority whip in the House of Representatives, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party, the largest opposition group.

She gave notice of her resignation in a letter she wrote to the party’s leader on Thursday in Shongom Ward, Shongom LGA, Gombe State.

However, she made no mention of the reasons for her departure from the party or whether she planned to join another one.

I am writing to propose my resignation from the People’s Democratic Party with immediate effect, the letter stated in parts. I am also including my PDP membership card in this attachment.

“This decision was not an easy one, and I sought advice from others before making such a move owing to a number of circumstances.

“I would want to use this opportunity to thank the party for their unwavering support over the past two decades. I hope the future is full of prosperity for you.

Binta served the Kaltungo/Shongom constituency of Gombe State in the green chamber for eight years.
