Derek Ferguson, a former Rangers midfielder, has offered advice to Cyriel Dessers regarding his finishing skills, suggesting that there is room for improvement in that aspect of his game.
Dessers made the move to Ibrox Stadium from Serie A side Cremonese last summer, adding depth to the squad.
Despite Dessers’ impressive scoring record of 13 goals and three assists in 27 appearances for the Light Blues, there are concerns about his consistency in delivering top performances.
Ferguson highlighted that the 29-year-old striker needs to work on his efficiency in front of goal, pointing out that he tends to take extra touches when a quicker finish would suffice.

The former midfielder expressed his frustration with Dessers’ playing style, mentioning that he appears indecisive at times and lacks the instinctive finishing ability of top strikers.
Ferguson also questioned Dessers’ role within the team, pondering whether he is a target man, a player who runs the channels, or a pure finisher, suggesting that the striker’s playing style is somewhat ambiguous.
The ex-Rangers player emphasized the importance of coaching for Dessers, implying that the striker’s decision-making and movement on the pitch could benefit from further guidance to become more natural and effective.
