Yahaya Adoza Bello, the former governor of Kogi State, is scheduled to be charged with N82 billion in fraud today at the Federal High Court in Abuja.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), acting on behalf of the federal government, is anticipated to prosecute Bello.
According to Obasanjonews.com, Justice Emeka Nwite’s cause list lists the arraignment as number seven.
If the former governor would keep his word and appear for arraignment, it was impossible to find out.

As of the time of this report, Bello’s legal team and the EFCC had both shown up for court without seeing the defendant.
Recall that the former governor had declined to appear in court four times, alleging a variety of excuses, including the anti-graft agency’s bias against him.
Kemi Pinheiro, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), is likely to represent the EFCC in today’s arraignment; Adeola Adedipe, another SAN, will lead the defence team.
The accusation is HC/ABJ/CR/98/2024 and is titled “Federal Republic of Nigeria Versus Yahaya Bello.”
