In a US court on Thursday, Duane “Keefe D” Davis, a 60-year-old former gang leader who was implicated in the death of well-known American rapper Tupac Amaru Shakur, better known by his stage name 2Pac, entered a not guilty plea.

After a fight with 2Pac in a casino, the police said Davis organised the shooting with his late nephew Orlando Anderson. Davis was charged in September 2023.

The police showed the hotel security tape from September 7, 1996, in which they showed multiple guys assaulting and kicking the suspect’s late nephew. They said this was the reason behind the singer’s retaliatory shooting while he was waiting in his car at a red light.

At the age of 25, Shakur passed away in the hospital six days later.

However, Davis refuted the murder charge on Thursday in a Las Vegas courtroom.

“Not guilty,” was Davis’ response when District Judge Tierra Jones asked for his plea.

Following the hearing, Steve Wolfson, the district attorney for Clark County, stated, “We discussed it, and I decided that this is not a case where we should pursue the death penalty.

It truly doesn’t matter that everyone is watching. According to the Review-Journal, he stated, “What matters is presenting the evidence to a jury so that the jury can make the final decision.”
