Former finance minister, Onaolapo Soleye, has died
The deceased rumoured to be Dr. Onaolapo Soleye, a former Finance Minister.
In a statement sent by his family, it was stated that he passed away early on Wednesday, November 15, 2023.

“Our late brother, Maj Gen OO Soleye (rtd),’s father, Pa Dr. Onaolapo Soleye, has passed away. We mourn his loss but are grateful to God Almighty for a long, meaningful, and eventful life.” Only last Saturday did he turn ninety.
Serving the nation and mankind in a variety of positions, Papa attained the rank of Associate Professor at the University of Ibadan, Commissioner for Works in Ogun State, and Minister of Finance in the Federal Republic of Nigeria, to name a few.
His unwavering dedication to church activities and his willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it were evidence of his genuine love for God and humanity.
“No doubt, the Soleye family is not the only ones mourning Dr. Soleye’s death. Our father has departed, and we must all get ready to participate in his farewell ceremonies.
“The family will provide burial specifics when the time comes. Please offer your prayers for Papa’s soul to rest and for God to console his family and other loved ones in the interim.
“Amen. May Dr. Onaolapo Soleye’s soul rest in peace.”
His wife, Mrs. WMS Soleye, his four surviving children (he lost Brigadier General Lola Soleye in February of this year), grandkids, and great-grandchild survive him.
