Former FCT Minister Jeremiah Useni, General Abacha’s Close Friend, Dies at 80

Jeremiah Useni, former FCT Minister and trusted ally of late General Sani Abacha, has died at the age of 80, leaving behind a legacy in Nigerian politics and military service.

Retired Lt. Gen. Jeremiah Useni, a former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has passed away.

He died on Thursday at the age of 82 after a long illness.

Gyang Bere, the Director of Press and Public Affairs for Plateau State governor Caleb Mutfwang, announced his death in a statement released in Jos.

He described the former Minister and Quarter Master General of the Nigerian Army as a tremendous loss not only to his immediate family but also to the Nigerian Armed Forces, Plateau State, and the entire nation.

Governor Mutfwang emphasized the contributions of the late army general, remarking that he made a lasting impact on Nigeria’s security and political environment through his relentless efforts to promote peace and stability, particularly in Northern Nigeria and Plateau State.

The governor prayed for God’s strength and fortitude to support the family, Plateau State, and the nation in bearing this irreplaceable loss. Additionally, he requested God’s divine presence to offer comfort and solace in the days ahead.
