Former DVC of Ekiti University passes away in kidnapper’s lair
The demise of Professor Femi Olaofe, the former Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics) at Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado Ekiti has been verified by The Ekiti State Police Command.
On July 9, Professor Olaofe and his gateman were both abducted from their residence located at the Housing Estate on Afao Road in Ado-Ekiti.
After visiting his children in Lagos, retired Industrial Chemistry professor Olaofe was allegedly kidnapped. The abductors demanded a whopping N50 million as the ransom for his release.
After being held captive for 20 days, the professor was found dead in a shallow grave on Ekiti Cargo Airport Road. A number of suspects have been apprehended in connection with the abduction.

The demise of the professor has been verified by Adeniran Akinwale Adeniran, who is the Commissioner of Police in Ekiti State.
He stated that they are taking all necessary measures to retrieve the body for burial and have taken into custody several individuals.
The commissioner suspects that someone on the inside was involved as it is believed that the security guard hired by the professor had orchestrated his kidnapping.
The security guard was abducted with the professor, according to the Commissioner, in order to evade any doubts. More information on the inquiry and detentions will be revealed when it is fitting for the public.
