Former CPC members want to join Tinubu’s administration
Former members of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), certain chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC), have demanded inclusion in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
Prior to the 2015 general elections, the CPC and the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), two prominent opposition political organisations, merged to become the ruling APC, as noted by OBASANJO NEWS24. www.dailypost.ng/2013/02/07/acn-cpc-anpp-finally-merge-into-all-progressive-congress-apc/
The demand was made in a statement made available to OBASANJO NEWS24 on Thursday by Mallam Abubakar Maikudi, the former CPC National Youth Leader.
He also expressed his congratulations to the present administration’s newly appointed Ministers.
He said that numerous former ACN leaders were appointed as ministers and to the highest levels of government during the rule of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
He stated that Tinubu is expected to follow suit by including former CPC leaders in his administration.
“We accept that they are all capable professionals with a wide range of education and work history. We think they’ll help the president advance policies and spearhead reforms that will lift Nigeria to new heights. They need to demonstrate why the President should have faith in them.
“We recall that Mr. President, who was a member of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) bloc, collaborated with former President Muhammadu Buhari, a member of our own defunct CPC bloc, to forge the APC, which ultimately defeated the PDP in a historic election for Nigeria.
“The varied interests we served prior to the merger are evident, despite the fact that we have merged into APC. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a seasoned politician, and we believe he is aware that successful politics requires balancing all interests.
“During the PMB administration, some former ACN leaders were appointed to prominent Board positions and made Ministers. Therefore, it is anticipated that the BAT government will follow suit by including former CPC leaders in his government.
We have qualified members in both the North and the South that the President can appoint. Throughout the election, we mobilised a lot in support of President Tinubu. There was no question in our minds about his ability. So that we can give Nigerians Renewed Hope, we wish to work with his team. We all remember the President’s pledge to lead a diverse administration,” he remarked.
