Former Buhari minister takes to the streets, leading a protest against economic hardship. Discover the motivations and public reaction.
On Thursday, Mr. Solomon Dalung, a former minister in then President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration was one of the leaders who spearheaded the “Hardship and End Bad Governance” protest in Jos.
Prophet Isa El-Buba and other distinguished individuals joined Dalung, who had formerly held the position of Minister of Youths and Sports Development.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), a protest with substantial youth participation was conducted in Jos, as protestors marched through the primary thoroughfares while singing solidarity songs. The organizers have scheduled these protests from August 1 till August 10th.
At the beginning of the protest, Dalung stressed that their objective was to demand better governance. He pointed out that widespread poverty, hunger among Nigerians and escalating cost of living were major concerns.

While clarifying that they had no intention of causing trouble, he stated their peaceful intent to prompt government intervention in addressing these urgent matters.
The crowd was also addressed by Prophet Isa El-Buba, who convenes the Initiative for Better and Brighter Nigeria (IBBN), imploring President Bola Tinubu to take action against corruption and inadequate governance. He characterized the demonstration as a fight for Nigeria’s prospect.
El-Buba proclaimed, “The struggle for Nigeria’s good governance is underway.
We cannot surrender since it falls upon us to guarantee that the collective opinion of citizens has significance and influence. When people express their sentiments, they are essentially God’s voice demanding an end to maladministration.
The establishment of proper institutions can eradicate starvation and put a halt on violence while making certain that our military efficiently serve civilians.
We must persevere until Nigeria realizes its potentiality as we have unwavering affection towards our country; thus, seeking serenity and advancement.”
The words of El-Buba continued to stimulate the demonstrators, as he imagined a Nigeria that was not subject to manipulation.
