The former Deputy Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Hartford Oseke has passed away suddenly, which is causing mourning in the state’s political community.
It is said that Oseke tragically passed away after collapsing while undergoing a regular workout session at Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka, Anambra State.
Reports indicate that Oseke suffered an unexpected collapse and was promptly transported to Apex Hospital in Awka for urgent treatment. Regrettably, despite the dedicated efforts of healthcare staff, he succumbed to his ailment before any breakthrough could be made towards reviving him.
In Umuawulu, Awka South Local Government Area at Oseke’s rural residence, the ambience was permeated with deep sorrow. The demise had left relatives and community members visibly disturbed; several were too distraught to share their thoughts publicly.

Oseke, a former official of the Anambra State House of Assembly, has received accolades from his past coworkers who fondly remember him as not just an associate but also a unifying presence during his tenure in office.
A member who wished to remain unnamed praised Oseke as being both “honorable” and instrumental in bringing people together while serving at the Assembly.
“I am unable to issue an official statement at this time since that responsibility falls upon the Speaker of the Assembly, and as you are aware, Oseke was his colleague in the same set,” explained a representative to *New Telegraph*.
“Nevertheless, I can attest that he displayed commendable qualities as a unifying figure during his tenure within our esteemed legislative body.”
Hon. Oseke was a two-term representative of Awka South 2 State Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly. In his second term, he served as Deputy Speaker with distinction – renowned for his dedication to legislative procedures and knack for promoting teamwork among fellow lawmakers.
The Anambra State political arena has suffered a major blow with the unexpected demise of Oseke. His unwavering commitment to public service and leadership will always be commemorated by those who had the privilege of interacting or collaborating with him during his lifetime.
