Hon. Chidiebere Okoh, the 2023 House of Assembly candidate for Bende North Constituency in Abia State under the Action Democratic Party (ADP), along with his supporters from the five electoral wards that make up the state constituency, have made the decision to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

This includes the ward chairmen, youth, and women leaders of the ADP.

The announcement was made by Okoh during a gathering at the Okoko Item Civic Hall, where he emphasized that his decision to join the APC was not solely for the purpose of contesting elections, but to collaborate with Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, and Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, who represents Abia North Senatorial District in the Nigerian Senate.

Okoh commended the leadership qualities displayed by the duo since assuming their respective positions.

He also pledged to foster unity within the party, starting from his local electoral ward in Bende North State Constituency.

The Chairman of the APC, Item Ward B in Bende Local Government Area, Chief Anthony Onyekwere, led the ward executive members in welcoming the ADP defectors during the event.

He expressed optimism about their decision, stating that it would greatly contribute to the APC’s chances of producing the next State House of Assembly member.

Chief Anthony Onyekwere further assured the defectors that they would be treated with fairness and given an equal opportunity to participate in party activities and affairs. He urged them to refrain from engaging in any anti-party activities.

The move by Hon. Chidiebere Okoh and his supporters to defect to the APC signifies a significant shift in the political landscape of Bende North Constituency in Abia State.

With their collective efforts and the support of other party members, the APC aims to secure victory in the upcoming elections and promote a sense of unity within the party.
