For the UN General Assembly, Tinubu arrives to New York

To attend the 78th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), President Bola Tinubu has arrived at the John F. Kennedy Airport in New York.

The President, who arrived a few minutes before seven o’clock local time, was welcomed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, the Permanent Representative of Nigeria to the UN, Prof. Tijjani Muhammad-Bande, and other government representatives.

This year’s UNGA has as its topic “Rebuilding Trust and Reigniting Global Solidarity: Advancing Action on the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals towards Peace, Prosperity, Progress, and Sustainability for All.”

It is set for President Tinubu to make his inaugural National Statement. the first day of the 78th UNGA Session’s High-Level General Debate, September 19.

The President will take part in the UN 2023 Summit on SDGs’ High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development before participating in the General Debate with other world leaders.

Additionally, President Tinubu is scheduled to take part in a number of high-level events, including the High-Level Panel on Reform of the Global Financial Architecture, the High-Level Meeting on Pandemic Prevention, Preparedness, and Response, the UN Secretary General’s Climate Ambition Summit, and the High-Level Meeting on Universal Health Coverage.
