The 30-year-old did not participate in the Serie A season’s opening day of play, according to the Italian press, when the drug test was conducted.

Paul Pogba, a midfielder for Juventus and France, has been temporarily suspended following a doping test that revealed testosterone, which is prohibited, Italian anti-doping officials (NADO) said AFP on Monday.

The athlete Paul Labile Pogba has been provisionally suspended, according to the National Antidoping Tribunal, which informed AFP that it accepted the case that the National Antidoping Prosecutor had offered.

The NADO claimed that the “prohibited substance detected: Non-endogenous testosterone metabolites” was consistent with a doping violation.

According to the Italian media, the 30-year-old was not used as a substitute during the 3-0 victory at Udinese on August 20 that marked the start of the Italian Serie A season.

The test is for the “A” sample, and if testosterone is found in the “B” sample as well, Pogba may receive a four-year suspension.

NADO published a statement on Monday to clarify information that had been reported earlier in the day in the Italian press about Pogba, who was hoping to play for Juventus this weekend against Lazio.

Pogba was a key member of France’s World Cup-winning team in 2018, but he endured a terrible 2022–2023 season due to injury and an extortion scandal.

For Juventus that year, he only participated in 10 games, and he was absent from the 2022 World Cup with France.
