In connection with an alleged attempt to rig Georgia’s 2020 elections, the former US president is facing more than a dozen charges.

Donald Trump, a former US president, turned himself in on Thursday at the Fulton County jail in Atlanta, Georgia. He is accused of attempting to rig the 2020 presidential election, which might result in criminal penalties.

Thanks to a bail arrangement negotiated in advance by his solicitors, the politician-turned-billionaire was apprehended, lodged and then rapidly freed.

Along with other terms, including a $200,000 bond, Trump has promised to refrain from pursuing his co-defendants and case witnesses on social media.

After being released from prison, Trump once more criticised the prosecution as a “travesty of justice.”

While this was happening, the former president’s mug shot was made public by the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office.

Earlier this month, the former president and 18 of his allies were charged with crimes under a 41-count indictment that was unveiled by Fulton district attorney Fani Willis. The former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani, who turned himself in on Wednesday, is one of the co-defendants who has already been booked at the jail.

The Fulton County, Georgia lawsuit against Trump currently include allegations of racketeering and other felonies. He is charged with breaking many charges of conspiracy to sway an election, perjury, enticing a public officer to break the law, and more. He is also suspected of breaking the state’s organised crime statutes.

Trump is currently the subject of his fourth criminal investigation this year. Federal prosecutors have previously charged him with dozens of felonies for allegedly plotting to tamper with the 2020 election, mishandling secret information after leaving the White House in 2021, and providing hush money to porn star Stormy Daniels during his 2016 campaign.

Trump has refuted the accusations, claiming they are the result of a politically driven witch hunt intended to keep him from seeking the presidency in 2024. Trump has also denied any misconduct.
