Following Denver Nuggets’ NBA victory, shooting left nine people injured

A shooting spree in Denver, Colorado, has left nine people hurt.

According to a tweet from the police, only three of the victims are in a life-threatening condition.

Additionally, a suspect had been shot and was being held by police, they said.

Market Street, a short distance from Ball Arena, is where the shooting took place. On Monday night, the Denver Nuggets, the city’s basketball team, won their first NBA championship at Ball Arena.

Police stated that they believed “multiple shots were fired during an altercation involving several individuals” and that a “complex investigation” was ongoing.

After Monday night’s game, in which the Denver Nuggets defeated the Miami Heat 94-89, thousands of fans reportedly poured into the streets surrounding the arena to celebrate.

According to a spokesperson for the Denver Police Department, Doug Schepman, who was quoted by the news source, the shooting took place approximately three and a half hours after the game. At that point, the crowds had dispersed, leaving fewer people in the vicinity when gunfire erupted.

The mass shooting in Denver is the 291st this year, according to the organization that tracks such incidents in the US.
