Following 68 days of captivity, police in Zamfara rescue 14 people

The victims have been reunited with their families.

After receiving medical attention at the Police Clinic in Gusau, the victims were returned to their families or other close relationships.

After 68 days in captivity, police officers from the Zamfara State Police Command have freed 14 kidnap victims.

The victims were released close to the Munhaye woodland after the police removed a bandits’ camp belonging to kingpin Dogo Sule, according to the Command’s spokesperson Mohammed Shehu.

The statement from Shehu continued, “As a consequence of the operation, fourteen (14) hostages, consisting of two (2) male adults, seven (7) females, and five (5) children under the age of two years, were rescued.

During the debriefing process, the victims revealed to the police detectives that on January 1, 2023, at around 23:00 hours, a large group of suspected bandits stormed Anguwar Mangoro and Gidan Maidawa villages in Gusau LGA and kidnapped them, taking them to their camp where they were held captive for 68 days.

After receiving medical attention at the Police Clinic in Gusau, the victims were returned to their families.

The victim’s freedom has been restored, the police commissioner, CP Kolo Yusuf, said in a statement. He is assuring the populace of the state’s ongoing dedication to safeguarding the lives and property of the people.
