FNM drops its protest against Tinubu’s election and explains why
Free Nigeria Movement, or FNM, has called for a stop to the demonstrations against the presidential vote, which Bola Tinubu of the governing All Progressives Congress, or APC, won.
Almost four days before the president-elect’s inauguration, the organization issued the appeal in a statement by the convener, Moses Paul, on Thursday.
Paul stressed that the organization could no longer ensure the safety of its members in the face of intimidating threats and intimidation and that it was leaving the demonstration in order to plan new ways to get justice.
Our priority is Nigerian, he said. Justice has penned our laws. The Free Nigeria Movement will thus stop taking part in any demonstrations or rallies to oppose the results of the presidential election on February 25, 2023.
This is in line with our promise to make sure no lives are lost during our demonstration. Given the volume of threats and intimidation our leaders face on a daily basis, we are unable to ensure the safety of our members and are thus requesting an end to demonstrations that take place in public. This notice is made today, and copies will be sent to the DSS and the police.
“From from day on, until further notice, no presidential election-related protests will utilize our banners or posters. Please be aware that we are not us if you see our flag or anything that looks like it during a demonstration.
