Two employees at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Keffi have been dismissed and several others have been suspended due to their involvement in job racketeering, according to Dr. Yahaya Adamu, the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the hospital.

In an interview with reporters, Dr. Adamu revealed that upon receiving the allegations, the management promptly established a committee to investigate the matter.

The committee, which Dr. Adamu himself chaired, included a representative from the Minister of Health and representatives from various health unions as observers.

The investigation was conducted transparently, and the committee subsequently submitted its recommendations to the minister, as the hospital’s board had not yet been constituted.

Dr. Adamu further explained that the recommendations were reviewed and modified, leading to a final decision regarding the individuals accused of job racketeering and other offenses.

In total, nine staff members were affected by the disciplinary actions, with each individual being tried based on their level of involvement.

Notably, only one of the accused employees was found not guilty. The FMC Keffi is committed to upholding integrity and ensuring that any misconduct within its workforce is thoroughly investigated and appropriately addressed.
