In a coordinated police, vigilante, and hunting operation on Saturday in Katsina State, at least five terrorists were killed and one was captured.
In response to an intelligence report, the combined squad stormed various terrorists’ camps in the state’s Batsari and Jibia LGAs, according to the spokesman for the Katsina Police Command, ASP Sadiq Abubakar.
The joint operation included dislodging alleged terrorist camps in the Batsari LGA villages of Marake, Garin Yara, and Garin Labo.
One renowned bandit commander, Audu Lankai, who terrorized Jibia LGA and its surroundings, was also removed and his camp was raided.
Additionally recovered during the operation, according to Sadiq, were 38 cows, 40 sheep, and 65 goats.
Sadiq added that, even though the investigation is still ongoing, its agents are still scouring the area for potential arrest targets among the camp’s other participants as well as for other evidence to recover.
