A court has sentenced five suspects involved in the infamous Offa robbery to death, delivering a significant verdict in the high-profile case.
The notorious Offa bank robbery of 2018 saw five suspects sentenced to death by hanging by Kwara State High Court Judge Haleemah Salman.
The accused was found guilty by the court of culpable homicide, armed robbery, and unlawful firearm possession—all offenses that carry the death penalty in Nigeria.
Numerous police officers and bystanders were killed in the robbery, which happened in April 2018 and is still among the bloodiest in recent Nigerian history.
