Five Found Dead in Edo, Authorities Suspect Food Poisoning

Authorities in Edo investigate the sudden deaths of five individuals, with food poisoning as a likely cause. Explore details on this developing health crisis.

On Saturday, five people were discovered dead in a room in Uzairue, within the Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State. Among them were two brothers and one woman.

According to reports, the discovery occurred under unusual circumstances, as all the victims were found lifeless in one room.

Family members became worried when the individuals did not come out of their room, resulting in a tragic discovery.

The deceased included two siblings, and the rest were reportedly family friends.

Preliminary findings suggest potential causes such as generator fumes and food poisoning, while authorities strive to ascertain the exact cause of death.

The Auchi Area Commander and the Jattu Police Station DPO have stated that a definitive cause will not be confirmed until the investigation is complete.

State Police Command spokesperson, SP Moses Yamu, confirmed the incident by stating, “The command is aware and an investigation to determine the cause of death is currently underway.”
