The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) assures NASENI, NITDA, and TETFUND that the proposed tax bills will not impact their functions or existence. Read more on their reassurances and the implications for government agencies.
Zacch Adedeji, the Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), has stated that none of the four tax bills currently under consideration by the National Assembly pose a threat to any government agency’s existence or individual jobs.
Adedeji provided reassurances on Wednesday in Abuja during a meeting with the chief executive officers of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND), and the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).
The statement comes amidst concerns that changing the name of FIRS to Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) could result in the tax agency absorbing several federal agencies.
I want to assure you that these bills will not impact your funding, effectiveness, or efficiency in any way.
“The primary goal is to improve tax efficiency and simplify compliance,” Adedeji stated.
