The Gidan Rumfa palace, where the reinstated Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II resides, was partially destroyed by a fire outbreak in the morning.
Munir Sanusi Bayero, the Chief of Staff to Emir Sanusi, confirmed the incident on Saturday.
Bayero, who holds the traditional title of Danburam Kano, revealed in an official letter that the inferno occurred at the outer court of the palace. He also stated that there were no casualties and minimal damage to the property.
The palace is currently investigating the cause of the fire and taking necessary measures to ensure the safety and security of the palace and its occupants. An unconfirmed source within the palace mentioned that the fire affected the site where the Sanusi traditionally holds court sessions on Mondays.
The Kano State Fire Service was not contacted during the emergency, according to spokesman Saminu Abdullahi.
