Flat 5, Block 21 of the building comprising sixteen two-bedroom apartments was reportedly where the fire originated from. The bedroom in question belonged to children.

Following preliminary investigations conducted by LASEMA’s team, it was revealed that the electrical surge had caused the fire. The coordinated efforts of LASEMA, Nigeria Police Force and Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service led to a prompt containment of the inferno; hence there were no records of injuries or deaths reported. Unfortunately, significant damage occurred in the children’s room leading to substantial loss of property affected.

LASEMA has provided guidance to residents on the appropriate utilization of electrical appliances in order to avoid similar incidents in the future.
