It has been noted that the approval of the Nigerian Hunter and Forest Security Services Bill, or NHFSS Bill, by the two chambers of the National Assembly is a positive step toward enhancing the nation’s security of lives and property.
This came after the Bill was approved by the Senate in April of this year and this week by the House of Representatives.
The Commander General of NHFSS, Ambassador Joshua Osatimehin, commented on the House of Representatives’ passage of the Bill in an interview with journalists in Abuja. He said the action demonstrated the MPs’ commitment to tackling the nation’s security.
He commended the two chambers for passing the bill after six years of debate in the legislature and public hearings.
Ambassador Joshua Osatimehin claims that after President Muhammadu Buhari signs the Bill into law, NHFSS operations worldwide will have legal support.
The NHFSS Commander General reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to bolstering official security agencies’ efforts in the war against crime, particularly in the forest.
“Officers and soldiers of NHFSS have already undertaken series of training on security and information collection and are fully prepared to hit the ground running as soon as the Bill is passed into law,” he said.
Ambassador Joshua Osatimehin requested the assistance of all Nigerians in putting an end to the security issues the nation is now facing while urging officers and members of the NHFFS to stay patriotic and dedicated to their duties.
