After the seven-day interim ceasefire between Israel and Hamas ended, fighting has returned to Gaza.
As the bombing continues, the Israeli military has dropped leaflets telling people living in certain areas of southern Gaza to escape for their safety.
After 240 Palestinian detainees in Israeli jails were exchanged for the release of over 100 hostages by Hamas last week, both sides have placed the responsibility for the violence’s resumption on one another.
Since the brief ceasefire ended on Friday morning, more than 100 people have died in Gaza, according to the health ministry operated by Hamas.
Additionally, Gaza has fired rockets into southern Israel.
The US had already cautioned Israel against replicating the “massive loss of civilian life” in the northern part of Gaza to the southern part.
On October 7, 1,200 people were killed in Hamas attacks on Israel, and another 240 more were taken hostage.
Since then, Israel’s military campaign has killed around 14,800 people, including roughly 6,000 children, according to Gaza’s Hamas-run health ministry.

According to the health ministry administered by Hamas, over 100 people have died today. It claims to have struck over 200 “terror targets” in Israel.
The US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, attributed the renewed violence on Hamas. Reporters were informed by him that the group had violated agreements and launched rockets into Israel prior to the ceasefire expiring.
Israel claims that it informed Blinken of its intentions to lower the number of civilian deaths, following his warning that the devastation of Gaza’s north could not be replicated in the south.
