Edinson Cavani, a former attacker for Manchester United, was one of the four players FIFA banned on Friday.

Following their 2022 FIFA World Cup encounter against the Black Stars of Ghana in Qatar, Cavani and his Uruguayan teammate Diego Godin attacked the referee. Each player received a one-game suspension.

Jose Maria Gimenez and Fernando Muslera of Uruguay were also banned for four games by FIFA.

FIFA started legal action against the four players after they were eliminated from the tournament in Qatar after defeating Ghana 2-0 in their final group match on December 2.

The four athletes will also be required to perform community service connected to football and pay fines of up to 20,000 Swiss francs ($21,701).
