FG will crack down on unlicensed miners to increase revenue
Dele Alake, the minister of solid mineral development, promised to crack down on unlicensed miners to increase the nation’s revenue collection.
Alake revealed this on Thursday in Abuja during a gathering for potential jewellery sellers, according to OBASANJO NEWS24.
He claims that in order to increase local capacity, the Federal Government is dedicated to growing the jewelery industry.
As a result, the government would establish a monitoring system to address the problem of illegal mining in Nigeria.
Under President Bola Tinubu’s government, there will be political will and firmness to put an end to the threat of illegal mining, which has weakened and robbed the nation of significant money.
“It won’t be business as usual anymore, regardless of who is responsible for this economic crime,” he said. “The ministry will work with other pertinent agencies to tackle the menace.”
Alake returned to work as the nation’s estimated $700 billion mining industry’s minister on August 21.
