The Federal Government will begin putting into practise the NCAA Act’s clauses requiring compensation for subpar service performance, according to aviation minister Keyamo.

According to the Federal Government, an order requiring airline carriers to begin compensating customers for delayed and cancelled flights that are not the result of natural disasters will be issued soon.

Festus Keyamo, the minister of aviation and aerospace development, revealed this on Monday in Abuja while speaking with airline executives.

“With regard to delayed flights, I’d like to speak for regular Nigerians who complain about them on a daily basis. I am aware that you have covered every angle. You’ve criticised the government and a couple of our actions. But I also want to point out that the government is not always to blame,” he added.

You’ve mentioned waiting for people to finish going through the screening device at several points. They have occasionally been via the screening devices. You cancel your flight while they are waiting in the lounge for five hours.

So as you can see, we will start putting the NCAA Act’s provisions into effect after some time. Nigerians, you know, are unaware that there is compensation for delays. If it is a divine act, you are not liable.

However, the NCAA Act stipulates that you must pay if it was your responsibility. As a result, while I have commended and supported all airline carriers, I will also assist Nigerians. You’ll compensate them. I’ll eventually put my feet on the ground. When you postpone or revoke their flight, pay them.

Keyamo advised the airline owners to provide reliable channels of communication so that customers could receive cancellation notifications.
