There are signs that the Federal Government has called an urgent meeting with the heads of the Nigerian Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria in an effort to stop their upcoming statewide strike on October 3.
The meeting will take place later on Friday evening at the Aso Villa Conference Room of the Office of the Chief of Staff to the President, OBASANJO NEWS24 has learned.
The meeting, according to sources, was originally scheduled for 12 p.m. but was changed to the evening so the unions could contact their leaders who were not in Abuja.
According to a different source, the NLC and its TUC counterpart received the invitation from the government on Friday morning via the Ministry of Labour and Employment.
