Minister of Information and Culture Lai Mohammed says that President Muhammadu Buhari backs INEC’s work to strengthen Nigeria’s democracy.

The Federal Government has agreed with the US government’s decision to ban politicians and other people from getting visas if they try to mess with the 2023 elections.

The Federal Government’s support for the initiative was voiced by Lai Mohammed, Minister of Information and Culture. On Monday in Abuja, he gave a speech at the 20th edition of the President Muhammadu Buhari Administration Scorecard Series (2015–2023).

He said that President Muhammadu Buhari’s government is still committed to making sure elections are free, fair, and trustworthy. He also said that anyone who works to hurt the country’s democracy should be punished and have to pay for their actions.

Since Nigeria’s return to democratic rule in 1999, no administration has demonstrated greater loyalty to the democratic process than ours, which we as a government are proud to state.

No president since 1999 has been as clear-cut about stepping down after the constitutionally mandated two terms as President Muhammadu Buhari, according to the minister.

“Let those who threaten our democracy face consequences and bear their own burdens.” “We have no cause for concern as a government because our hands are clean!” Added he.

In addition, he emphasised that President Buhari has provided INEC with unprecedented assistance by enacting the Electoral Act 2022 and adopting other electoral innovations, which have improved the nation’s democracy for the benefit of the Nigerian people.
