Palliative road projects in the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) will start before December, according to a Federal Government announcement.

This was announced on Monday in a statement that Federal Minister of Works Dave Umahi personally signed.

In response to the public’s mounting worries regarding the appalling state of several federal roads around the nation, the previous governor of Ebonyi State took action.

The minister gave Nigerians hope that President Bola Tinubu’s administration was dedicated to easing the suffering of certain drivers who endured the awful roads.

He asserted that Tinubu inherited numerous poor road segments all over the nation, including the Benin bypass road, the Lagos-Abeokuta Motorway, the Makurdi-Nsukka 9th Mile Road, the East-West Road, the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano Road, the Enugu-Port Harcourt Road, the Shandam-Plateau State Road, and the Gombe- Bauchi Road.

Umahi further revealed that Tinubu has sanctioned N100 billion for immediate palliative works in the 36 States and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) out of the N300 billion allotted to the Ministry of Works.

“Mr. President has ordered that, while adhering to all legal procedures, work on certain palliative projects begin before December 1st, 2023.

“Mr. President has similarly isolated them and directed immediate actions on the sections being frequently complained about by the public in all regions of the country, North and South, and in fact work has begun on all such roads.”
