FG Set to Introduce New Educational Program

On Thursday, Prof. Tahir Mamman, the Minister of Education disclosed that a fresh curriculum for secondary schools throughout Nigeria would be put into effect in September 2024.

The announcement was declared at the 2024 policy meeting of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) held in Abuja.

Mamman affirmed that their utmost priority is to implement a fresh curriculum for secondary schools before September. He disclosed that they’ve been consistently developing the syllabus over the past year and are set to have all parties concerned come together on August 6, 2024, to conclude its deliberation.

Mamman stated that our goal is to have all schools, both public and private, implement this program by September.

In order to tackle the major hurdles in secondary education across Nigeria, a comprehensive plan has been put into action. The National Senior Secondary School Education Commission has specifically identified infrastructure shortages, insufficiently trained educators, outdated curricula as well as limited access to libraries and laboratories among key areas requiring attention.

The Federal Government’s objective is to enhance the quality of education and modernize it by implementing a new curriculum that provides students with an inclusive, current education that readies them for higher learning and employment opportunities.
